January might have felt like an entire trilogy rolled into one but we are excited for what February has in store for us. Cheers to savoring the new month.
In order to synchronize the calendar with the lunar year, the Roman king Numa Pompilius added 2 more months, January and February. The previous calendar had (304 days. That being said, welcome to February, or as they say it, the month of love.
Exams will come and go. Guess who'd still be here.
If you're anything like me, I'm very sure you're asking the question "didn't we just start this semester?" And yes, you'd be right to ask that question because the fast-paced school activities are enough to give one a whiplash.
Exam season is a seemingly unending rollercoaster. From the infamous last-minute revisions to the nerve-racking moments before entering the exam hall, each step of the way is filled with equal parts of anxiety and determination. But, whether or not you are a student, you have to admit, exam season memes>>>>>>
Remember, while the struggle may be real, so is the victory (please don't let it be tears) at the end. Here's a friendly reminder to take breaks, stay hydrated, and prepare earnestly for the war(exams) ahead. You've got this!

An OSCAR® Snub?
You're stuck? Relax, staying still isn't so bad.
If you're on “Twitter”, you must have seen the pandemonium going on with the Oscars. Just like Margot Robbie's Oscar snub, sometimes effort doesn't immediately translate into results. Let's face it, Margot Robbie not getting an Oscar is criminal considering the amount of work she put into Barbie. What makes it worse is that supporting actors and actresses in Barbie were awarded. But all we can do is shout on Twitter (I'm not calling it X).
If you scrutinize this story, it sounds like one that hundreds, if not thousands can relate to: putting in the work and not getting the immediate accolades or results. If you go on Twitter or on LinkedIn, you see so many people doing so many extraordinary things in such little time. It doesn't matter. Face your craft. Here’s another friendly reminder that comparing your private reality to someone else’s public persona isn’t really a great thing to do. You'd never enjoy the learning process if you always cast a shadow of doubt on your ability by comparing yourself to people that have spent years perfecting their craft.
It's very easy to forget how delicious the meal in front of you is, if you're always staring at someone else's plate. And yes, I hate to sound like an African parent but comparison is the thief of joy. Just collect the free food from the graduates and laugh about how much academic danger you're in.
I have a friend whose name became synonymous with ill-luck (it's a long story). He echoed his sentiment of being unlucky all the time and with time, our friend group echoed it with him. One time, he even got a four-leaf clover as a gift! The point is that he has been dealt a very hard hand at life but he is the very definition of resilience. He inspires me because his pessimism doesn't stop him from trying harder to become better.
The lesson to be gotten from all of this long story is that you should be kinder to yourself, take a step back, breathe, and focus on your journey. Disconnect when necessary, tune out the noise, and remember that success is a marathon, not a sprint. And above all, be kind to yourself along the way.
